Important Announcement

Dear Club Representatives,
We would like to inform you that, following our proposal to European Chess Union (ECU), the European Chess Club Cup 2026 will be held in Budva instead of Herceg Novi. Budva has host major European and World Chess Championships, among them the European Team Chess Championship 2023 and European Youth Chess Championship 2025.

This change has become necessary due to uncertainty regarding the timely opening and full operation of Hotel Medun, which was originally planned to host the event. After reviewing all available options and following an inspection by ECU representatives, it was concluded that Budva currently represents the most reliable and stable solution as a recognized venue.

The dates of the event remain unchanged – from 16 to 24 October 2026.

Participants will be accommodated at Hotels Slovenska Plaza and Aleksandar in the same complex, which are of the same category as Hotel Medun and provide a comparable standard of accommodation and services. Both hotels have previous experience in hosting major European and international chess events.

All participants will be upgraded with a semi all-inclusive service, including water and soft drinks, as well as beer and wine within the hotel offer in the restaurants and defined hotels’ bars.

Additionally all participants will also be provided with free SIM cards with mobile internet access.

The playing hall will be located within the Slovenska Plaza complex and will be specially prepared in accordance with the requirements of the European Chess Club Cup.

Transfer arrangements will remain practically unchanged, as Budva and the previously planned location are served by the same airports.

All previously confirmed reservations and accommodation requests will be transferred to the new location, so clubs will not need to submit their information again. If there have been any changes in the number of participants or room requirements in the meantime, please inform us accordingly. We will contact clubs that have special requests for rooms to offer them all available options.

We are aware that a change of venue at this stage requires a certain level of adjustment, but we are confident that Budva will provide excellent conditions for both accommodation and competition, together with additional benefits that will make the participants’ stay more comfortable.
